Adam Morgan heads rear-wheel drive challenge

Adam Morgan said he was pleased to head the rear-wheel drive challenge after qualifying on the second row of the grid for the opening BTCC race of the weekend at Oulton Park.

Morgan arrived at his home circuit on the back of a first win of the campaign at Thruxton in the previous meeting and would prove to be the quickest BMW driver throughout free practice ahead of the West Surrey Racing machines.

Come qualifying, Morgan would prove to be the best of the rear-wheel drive cars with a solid run to fourth spot despite a mistake on his second run that left hum nursing a vibration and unable to improve on his time.

“The car has been right on it since FP1 and I felt confident going into qualifying,” he said. “I felt we could attack from the moment the session got underway and the BMW was mega.

“On the second run on new tyres, I had a lock-up going into the hairpin and ended up having to go right round Shell Oils, and then there was a vibration from the tyres so we couldn’t improve.

“However, P4 is a good place to start and it sets us up well for tomorrow.”
