Mike Halder grabs Copenhagen pole as Kasper Jensen is penalised

Honda driver Mike Halder claimed pole position for the first race of the TCR Denmark weekend on the streets of Copenhagen after points leader Kasper Jensen was hit with a penalty.

Reigning champion Jensen set the fastest lap time of the session, a massive 1.2 seconds faster than Halder, but was given a four-place grid penalty for hitting the tyres at the chicane – dropping him to fifth.

Philip Lindberg put his Hyundai i30 N TCR on the front row, two tenths behind Halder.

Cupra rivals Michael Markussen and Nicolai Sylvest claimed positions three and four, separated by just below four tenths of a second.

GMB Motorsport driver Gustav Birch finished the qualifying session in sixth position behind his penalised team-mate Jensen.

Alfa Romeo driver Jacob Mathiassen and Lars Højris Nielsen rounded off the top eight, 1.1 and 1.8 seconds from pole respectively.

The first race of the weekend starts at 16:35 CEST.
