Isac Aronsson extends Exion Racing contract to race BMW i4 in 2023 STCC

Isac Aronsson has extended his contract with Exion Racing and will race an electric BMW i4 alongside already confirmed team-mate Calle Bergman in the 2023 STCC season.

“Both myself and the team will face our greatest challenge yet, a challenge that I’m definitely feeling ready for and I know that the team is creating the right conditions for a strong season,” said Aronsson.

“I’m really longing for the first test with our new BMWs and it will be a really tough pre-season with limited testing. But it’s challenges like these that makes me passionate about racing, I’ve never looked forward to a season as much as now!”

The 20-year-old made his STCC debut in 2020 and joined Exion Racing last year, finishing eighth overall.

“Isac has grown incredibly as a driver just during the last year with us and we’re ready to take the next step forward together as the STCC enters an incredibly interesting electric era,” said Daniel Aronsson, team manager of Exion Racing.

“We are no doubt facing a lot of challenges with brand new powerful race cars that will put high demands both on us as a team and the drivers. But we are pushing forward and the goal is to establish us at the very top in order to challenge for the gold medals. And for that, Isac together with Calle are vital.”

The team will field three 550 hp BMWs this season with Aronsson and Bergman’s final team-mate yet to be confirmed.
