Cobra Racing adds Toyota to 2023 programme

Cobra Racing has confirmed that will run two different models for its assault on the 2023 TCR South America season, and will also battle for honours in TCR Brazil.

The team will continue to run a single Audi RS 3 LMS having run the German machine in the previous two seasons, with Diego Nunes coming into the team for his TCR debut on the back of a title winning campaign in the Porsche Carrera Endurance Series last year.

“I’m excited to face this new challenge in my career,” he said. “Cobra Racing proved to be one of the most competitive teams in the series and TCR is an international category that gets bigger every year. It was its growing popularity that pushed me to take this opportunity to join the TCR South America championship.”

Team regular Adalberto Baptista returns for another season but will no longer be at the wheel of an Audi, with the veteran switching into a new Toyota Corolla GRS instead.

“I’m so pleased to stay with Cobra Racing for the new season and excited to drive the new Toyota,” he said. “I’m part of TCR South America from the very beginning and I’m happy to see how the championship has grown in such a short time.”
