Juan Angel Rosso beats Bernardo Llaver by 0.006s to pole position at Rosario

The Toyota Corolla TCR drivers dominated qualifying for the second round TCR South America round Rosario, with Juan Angel Rosso beating Bernardo Llaver at the last minute to pole for Race 1.

The session was red-flagged with eight minutes left on the Q1, as Adalberto Baptista (Toyota) spun and was left stranded on the track.

Series leader Ignacio Montenegro (Honda Civic Type R TCR) was the first driver to establish a reference lap time in the Q2, with Rosso quickly stealing the top spot.

The Lynk & Co drivers seemed to struggle at first, but later making clear their target was P10 to get the reverse grid pole position for Race 2.

Toyota Team Argentina driver Llaver improved in the closing minutes but was ultimately beaten by Rosso of Paladini Racing by just six-thousandths of a second. Montenegro qualified in third place, followed by Juan Manuel Casella and Cupra driver Galid Osman.

Fabian Yannantuioni was sixth, followed by Fabio Casagrande and PMO Motorsport driver Rafael Suzuki. Suzuki’s team-mate and reigning champion Fabricio Pezzini was ninth ahead of Toyota driver José Manuel Sapag, who qualified in tenth place.

The start of Race 1 is scheduled for 09:10 local time on Sunday morning (14:10 CEST).
