Marco Butti beats Franco Girolami to Misano pole position

Championship leader Marco Butti (Hyundai) claimed his second consecutive TCR Italy pole position of 2023 at Misano, beating title rival Franco Girolami (Audi) by close to two tenths of a second.

Reigning champion Niels Langeveld claimed third behind the wheel of his new generation Honda Civic Type R TCR, beating Ruben Volt, who drives the older generation Honda, by a mere 0.043 seconds.

Denis Babuin headed fellow Audi driver Felice Jelmini in positions five and six, six and seven tenths of a second behind respectively.

Frenchman Aurelien Comte was seventh fastest while Target Competition driver Michele Imberti rounded off the top eight, 0.966 seconds from pole.

The session was interrupted once with a full course yellow as Ruben Fernandez (Audi RS 3 LMS) came to a halt on track.

The first race of the Misano weekend starts at 13:40 CEST on Saturday.
