Jan Magnussen nets first win since 2021 in Jyllandsringen finale

Jan Magnussen netted his first TCR Denmark win since 2021 in the third and final race of the Jyllandsringen season opener, heading Auto Lounge Racing team-mate Kevin Engman.

Race two winner Engman, who started from pole, was ahead of his team-mate until two laps from the end when Magnussen came from far behind to overtake for the lead at Turn 6, with Engman putting up no resistance.

GMB Motorsport driver Gustav Birch (Honda) fought hard to keep TPR Motorsport driver Mike Halder (Audi) behind him in the fight for the final podium position.

And there was further action in the fight for fifth place where Michel Markussen nudged Kasper Jensen, who had fought his way up from seventh on the grid, into a half spin on lap ten of 12.

The incident dropped the reigning champion down to finish seventh behind Markussen and Kevin Brandsborg.

Hyundai i30 N TCR driver Silas Rytter was right behind Jensen over the finishing line, but had to settle with eighth place.

Magnussen heads the standings after the first race weekend on 57 points, one point ahead of his team-mate Engman while Birch is third on 49 points. Race 1 pole sitter and winner Jensen is only ninth overall after two tough final races.

The next TCR Denmark race takes place at Ring Djursland on June 17-18.
