Kasper Jensen opens 2023 victory account in Jyllandsringen opener

Reigning TCR Denmark champion Kasper Jensen was unstoppable in the first race of 2023 at Jyllandsringen, winning the race ahead of team-mate Gustav Birch and Jan Magnussen.

The GMB Motorsport Honda driver made a strong start from pole position and never looked back, heading the field from lights to flag.

Jensen’s team-mate Birch meanwhile had to fight hard to keep former F1 driver Jan Magnussen of Auto Lounge Racing behind him.

The race was fairly static, with the exception for an incident between Christian Skaar and Allan Kristensen at the Hesteskoen corner, resulting in a retirement for both.

Philip Lindberg was also forced to retire from the race, suffering a suspension failure on his new generation Honda Civic Type R TCR.

Jensen won the race two seconds ahead of Birch and Magnussen while Nicolai Sylvest was fourth.

Mike Halder was best of the Audi drivers in fifth place, one place ahead of sibling and fellow TPR Motorsport driver Michelle Halder who rounded off the top six.

The second race of the weekend starts at 14:20 CEST.
