Osman and Lapenna heads W2 Pro GP 1-2 in Interlagos endurance round

Galid Osman and Felipe Lapenna won the TCR South America endurance round at Interlagos in Brazil, heading a W2 Pro GP 1-2 with team-mates Rafael Reis and Jorge Barrio claiming second place.

Cupra driver Osman fought for the lead in the first part of the race with Toyota driver Juan Angel Rosso, a battle which ended by lap nine when Osman managed to get ahead.

Osman then handed over the seat to Lapenna who extended the lead following the pit stop to win by more than five seconds over team-mates Reis and Barrio.

Thiago Vivacqua, co-driver to Diego Nunes, of Cobra Racing Team Toyota were close to the leading duo towards the end of the race. But a post-race penalty for an incorrect pit stop dropped them from second to ninth.

The Squadra Martino duo of Juan Casella and Gaetano Di Mauro (Honda) claimed the final podium position ahead of the two Paladini Racing Toyota duos of Juan Angel Rosso/Luciano Farroni and Fabian Yannantuoni/Beto Monteiro.

The second place finish has elevated Reis to the points lead on 223 points while Casella is second on 202 points and former points leader Ignacio Montenegro who was forced to retire from the race.

The next TCR South America round will be held at Riviera in Argentina on July 22-23.
