Kasper Jensen grabs Falkenberg pole with new TCR qualifying record
Kasper Jensen will start the first TCR Denmark race of the weekend in Falkenberg from pole position after laying down a new all-time TCR qualifying record at the Swedish track.
The championship leader stormed to a 44.698 aboard his GMB Motorsport-run Honda Civic Type R TCR to dip below the previous qualifying benchmark for the category of 44.764, set by Fredrik Blomstedt during an STCC round in 2017.
Jensen edged Jan Magnussen’s Auto Lounge Racing-prepared Cupra León Competición in a head-to-head battle for pole, with Nicolai Sylvest taking third for Green Development in another Cupra.
Fourth and fifth went to Auto Lounge Racing’s Audi Rs 3 LMS pair of Marius Solberg Hansen and Kevin Engman, the latter racing on home soil this weekend in the series’ summer visit to Sweden.
Engman, notably, recorded the exact same time as sixth-placed Michael Markussen (Cupra León Competición).
The top ten was rounded off by a quartet of Hondas, with Gustav Birch taking P7 in the second GMB Motorsport machine ahead of Kevin Brandsborg of TRP Motorsport, PL Racing’s Philip Lindberg and Michelle Halder (also TPR Motorsport).
The opening race of the weekend takes place tomorrow at 11:30 CEST.
