Kasper Jensen wins red flagged Copenhagen race as Michelle Halder crashes heavily

Reigning TCR Denmark champion Kasper Jensen controlled the first race of the weekend on the streets of Copenhagen, a race which was red flagged as Michelle Halder crashed heavily and potentially wrote off her Honda Civic Type R TCR.

GMB Motorsport driver Jensen was under pressure from Jan Magnussen throughout the race, but kept ahead until the red flags were brought out.

And the race lasted for just eight laps before Michelle Halder collected a stranded Philip Lindberg and went hard into the barriers.

“Philip Lindberg stood across the track with his car and I couldn’t do anything. It ended with me driving straight into him and further into the wall, causing what looks like terminal damage for the car,” said Michelle Halder.

The TPR Motorsport driver was left unharmed while the team is currently assessing whether it’s possible to repair the car for any further competition this season.

Jensen won the race ahead of Magnussen while Mike Halder (Audi) was third and Michael Markussen (Cupra) fourth.

Rival Honda drivers Gustav Birch and Kevin Brandsborg rounded off the top six.

The second race of the weekend starts at 11:15 CEST on Sunday.
