Kasper Jensen edges closer to TCR Denmark title with fifth consecutive pole

Kasper Jensen (Honda) was the sole driver to go below 1:10 at Jyllandsringen during qualifying for the 2023 TCR Denmark season finale, claiming his fifth consecutive pole position to take another step towards a potential fourth consecutive title.

The GMB Motorsport set a lap time of 1:09.873 to beat former Formula 1 driver Jan Magnussen (Cupra) by two tenths of a second.

Nicolai Sylvest made it two Cupras in the top three, 0.339 seconds from pole, while Jensen’s team-mate Gustav Birch (Honda) was fourth, close to half a second slower.

Team Auto Lounge driver Kevin Engman was fastest of the Audi drivers in fifth position, 0.475 seconds from pole, with siblings Mike (Audi) and Michelle Halder (Honda) in positions six and seven. Kevin Brandsborg rounded off the top eight, 0.668 seconds slower than Jensen.

Jensen heads the standings on 307 points while Mike Halder is second on 268 points, Sylvest is third on 261 and Magnussen fourth on 258. A total of 81 points are left to be fought for this weekend.

The first of three races at Jyllandsringen starts at 11:40 CEST on Sunday.
