Néstor Girolami confirmed for final three TCR World Tour rounds

Last year’s World Touring Car Cup runner-up Néstor Girolami will contest the final three rounds of the inaugural TCR World Tour season at the wheel of a Honda Civic Type-R TCR.

The Argentinian, who sits fifth in the TCR World Tour standings after taking his first win of the season last time out on home soil in San Luis, will team up with Wall Racing for the Australian leg of the World Tour

He will partner reigning TCR Australia champion Tony D’Alberto and brothers Will and Brad Harris for the World Tour joins the final pair of TCR Australia rounds.

Girolami’s name is also confirmed on the entry list for the Macau Guia Race, the last event before the World Final at Portimão next March, with the team to be announced in due course.

“I’m delighted to announce that I will compete in the final three rounds of the Kumho TCR World Tour,” said Girolami.

“I’m very happy to join Wall Racing and come back to working with a great championship-winning team who helped me to win all three races the last time I competed in Australia in 2019.

“I’ve never raced at Bathurst or Sydney before, but I have a home sim with a Cube Controls wheel like the one in my Honda Civic Type R TCR so I’ve been practicing a lot to learn the layout and I think we’ll be competitive in each of the last three events.”

Girolami last drove for Wall Racing in 2019 as a guest entrant in TCR Australia, winning all three races at Sandown.

Wall Racing team principal David Wall is excited with the prospect of racing on the global stage: “I’m very happy to have Nestor back with Wall Racing after such a successful outing at Sandown in 2019 when we won all three races.

“This is the first time we’ll have had global-level TCR racing in Australia so it’s fantastic to be a part of it with Nestor and JAS Motorsport, alongside our three TCR Australia Civics, including a new FL5 for Tony D’Alberto.”
