Yann Ehrlacher hit with five-place grid penalty at Bathurst

Trouble continues for TCR World Tour title challenger Yann Ehrlacher who has received a five-place grid penalty for the first race of the weekend at the Mount Panorama Circuit.

The former points leader suffered an engine failure during his out lap of Free Practice 1, forcing his mechanics into a race against time to switch engine ahead of the second practice session.

While his crew were successful and the Frenchman put his Lynk & Co 03 TCR on top of the timing sheets of Free Practice 2, he was handed a grid penalty as per the regulations for the engine change.

Another driver also changing engine was Rob Huff following transport damage to his Audi RS 3 LMS during the trip from Sydney to Bathurst.

The Comtoyou Racing driver will not receive a penalty as it was deemed Force Majeure.
