Racegroup ApS acquires the assets of GMB Motorsport

Racegroup ApS has acquired the assets of GMB Motorsport following financial issues for the latter company.

Racegroup ApS will maintain the previously announced 2024 TCR Denmark programme of GMB Motorsport under the new formation, fielding a pair of new Hondas for reigning champion Kasper Jensen and two-time junior champion Gustav Birch.

“We are super proud to have two of the country’s best racing drivers join our new team. We are happy that they could see themselves included in the new setup, and we think they are a big part in the project getting green light,” said new team owner Christian Jensen, who shares the ownership with Ulrik Larsen.

Another TCR Denmark team facing financial issues but that will not continue in 2024 is Team Auto Lounge Racing.

The Swedish team fielded four cars last year for Jan Magnussen, Kevin Engman, Marius Solberg Hansen and team owner Christian Skaar.

The withdrawal follows the bankruptcy of the car dealership Auto Lounge, a company which had a turnover of close to one billion Swedish kronor in 2022.

“Developments in the car market and the world situation recently have forced us to close this part of the group,” said Christian Skaar.

“Yesterday we delivered the last of almost 25,000 cars. We have overcome many seemingly impossible obstacles and setbacks, but what we are facing now is like nothing else and we must state that this chapter has come to an end.”
