Volcano Motorsport confirms FIA TCR World Tour switch

Volcano Motorsport has confirmed its switch from TCR Spain and TCR Europe to the FIA TCR World Tour this season, fielding two Audis for John Filippi and Sami Taoufik.

“We are incredibly proud to step up to the World Tour stage with an extremely talented team of young and very fast drivers, skilled engineers, professional mechanics and our beautiful Audi RS 3 LMS cars,” said Andrei Tkachenko, team principal.

“Our extensive experience in TCR racing and previous successes have proven our team’s great potential. We believe that John and Sami will deliver brilliant performances in Kumho FIA TCR World Tour with the full support and dedication of our team and Audi brand.”

The Spanish outfit ran two Audis in TCR Europe last year for four different drivers and two Audis in TCR Spain.

Frenchman Filippi finished as runner-up in TCR Europe for Comotyou Racing last year and took part in selected TCR World Tour races for the Belgian team.

Moroccan driver Taoufik last raced in the 2021 TCR Europe season for Sébastien Loeb Racing, finishing ninth overall.

Volcano Motorsport’s entry brings the total up to 11 full-season entries for the 2024 FIA TCR World Tour season.
