Bobby Thompson ruled out of Thruxton BTCC weekend

West Surrey Racing have confirmed that Bobby Thompson will not compete at this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship meeting at Thruxton.

The BMW outfit highlighted ‘financial complexities’ as the reason for Thompson’s absence, along with no confirmation on when he would return to the grid.

“Unfortunately, due to financial complexities outside of WSR’s and Bobby Thompson’s control, it will not be possible this weekend to run the #19 BMW that was driven to a superb podium finish at Snetterton,” read a statement by the team.

“WSR continue to work hard with the team’s commercial partners to put Bobby back in the BMW as soon as possible.”

Thompson debuted with the multiple champions last time out at Snetterton under the Zeus Cloud Racing with WSR banner, enjoying a career-best weekend which included a second place finish in race one.
