Ash Sutton sweeps to victory in Thruxton finale

Ash Sutton made a welcome return to the top step of the podium in the British Touring Car Championship finale at Thruxton as he swept his way to victory in impressive fashion.

Lining up on the grid in fourth, the Alliance Racing driver initially dropped backwards after making a sluggish start however he soon bounced back by fighting back up the order.

Seeing off his Ford Focus team-mate Dan Cammish initially, the reigning champion soon set off and dispatched Josh Cook, before then wrestling the lead off of Adam Morgan at the Complex.

Cammish would also get the better of Morgan to secure second place, while the latter became embroiled in an almighty scrap for the final spot on the podium.

Despite producing a resolute defence, Morgan would fall into the clutches of Tom Ingram and the pair would make contact as they fought over the same piece of tarmac entering the final chicane.

Ingram would be forced to take avoiding action and straight-lined the chicane, rejoining in third. Morgan held onto fourth ahead of double race-winner Jake Hill, with Josh Cook and Colin Turkington next in the order.
