Robert Dahlgren gets revenge in Gothenburg Race 2 and beats Jimmy Eriksson
Robert Dahlgren bounced back from his disqualification of yesterday to win the second race of the STCC premiere weekend in Gothenburg ahead of Jimmy Eriksson.
Rain was once again falling heavy over the new Head 2 Head circuit in Gothenburg, with the scheduled being delayed for water to be cleared.
Dahlgren and Eriksson made their way to the final of the Head 2 Head ladder, with Dahlgren winning both the first and second heats of the final with a margin of 1.4 seconds and 0.131 seconds respectively.
Tesla driver Eriksson barely beat his Brink Motorsport team-mate Mikael Karlsson in the semifinal while Dahlgren beat Exion Racing’s Ola Nilsson (Volkswagen), who topped qualifying, in the second semifinal.
Eriksson beat former karting world champion Viktor Gustavsson (Volkswagen) in the first quarterfinal while Karlsson beat multiple rallycross champion Anton Marklund in the second quarterfinal.
Nilsson beat BMW driver Calle Bergman of Exion Racing in the third quarterfinal while Tobias Brink (Tesla) was taken out by Dahlgren in the fourth quarterfinal.
Eriksson heads the standings after Gothenburg on 49 points, six more than Dahlgren and ten more than Nilsson.
Next up for the STCC field is Ljungbyhed on June 28-29 when the championship will return to its normal sprint race format with all cars on track.
