Jake Hill taking the positives from BTCC qualifying

Jake Hill has stated that he and West Surrey Racing will work hard on race day at Oulton Park as he bids to sign off the first half of the British Touring Car Championship season on a high.

Hill – who has won four of the last six races in the UK’s premier motorsport series – qualified his BMW 330e M Sport in seventh at the Cheshire circuit in what was a highly competitive session.

The rear-wheel-drive ace scraped through the first part of qualifying by a mere few thousandths of a second however he was then unable to break into the Quick Six.

“It’s not been too bad for me, qualifying seventh. Q1 was okay; I just scraped through by the skin of my teeth, and then we found quite a lot of speed for Q2,” Hill said. “I thought I might have made it through to Q3, but seventh was the best we could manage.

“I’m still fairly happy. It’s a shame my championship competitors are on the front row, but we’ll work hard tonight and make it back tomorrow.”

Race one at Oulton Park is scheduled to commence at 12:25.
