Jonathan Engström confirmed for FIA Motorsport Games, TCR Denmark and TCR Spain
Jonathan Engström is going to represent Sweden in the touring car category of this year’s FIA Motorsport Games in Spain this year and will prepare for the race by taking part in TCR Denmark and TCR Spain.
“It feels amazing and it’s a great honour to represent Sweden in the FIA Motorsport Games. It is a special and nice race to show what you are capable of achieving,” said Engström.
The 20-year-old, son to experienced STCC race winner Tomas Engström, is going to drive a Honda Civic Type-R FL5 TCR prepared by TPR Motorsport.
The Swede, who claimed his maiden STCC podium earlier this year for Exion Racing, will get his first taste of TCR machinery in TCR Denmark and later TCR Spain.
“I’ve never driven a TCR car before, but we’ve got a solid plan for me to get to know the car and we have strong support from TPR Motorsport and Honda,” said Engström.
“I will make sure to take full advantage of this possibility and perform strongly.”
Engström is going to drive the TCR Denmark season finale at Jyllandsringen in September and the penultimate TCR Spain race at Valencia, with an option for further races.
“I’m really excited to join TCR Denmark and TCR Spain, two really competitive championships. We are also discussing for me to join the next TCR Denmark race at Ring Djursland, but that remains to be seen,” said Engström.
The Swede is going to drive the older FK7 Civic in the Jyllandsringen finale, driven by Dennis Lind last weekend, while he will switch to the newer FL5, currently raced by Mike Halder, for TCR Spain and FIA Motorsport Games.
