Malte Edbrup tops eight-car qualifying at Jyllandsringen

Honda driver Malte Ebdrup topped the TCR Denmark qualifying at Jyllandsringen, a session which featured just eight cars.

Edbrup lapped the Danish circuit in 1:07.574 to beat last year’s runner-up Mike Halder by 0.351 seconds.

Reigning champion Kasper Jensen was third fastest, 0.450 seconds from his Mascot Motorsport team-mate, while TCR Denmark returnee Jan Magnussen was fourth, half a second from pole.

Magnussen suffered an engine failure in the first free practice session, meaning the former F1 driver missed the second practice session as the team raced to get his Honda ready for qualifying.

Mathias Dall was fifth fastest behind the wheel of his Honda Civic ahead of Lars Højris, who has switched to a Honda for this weekend as well, having raced a Hyundai in the season opener.

Marco Dahl, the sole non-Honda driver of the field, was eighth and last, over two seconds from pole with his Insight Racing-prepared Hyundai i30 N TCR.

Magnus Dall was missing from the qualifying session as his wife gave birth to their second child yesterday. The Dane is expected to be back on track for the races tomorrow.

The first race of the weekend starts at 11:33 CEST on Sunday.
