Ash Sutton maintains BTCC points lead following Brands Hatch

Ash Sutton remains at the top of the British Touring Car Championship standings following an action-packed race day at Brands Hatch.

Arriving at the Kent circuit sitting at the top of the standings, the Alliance Racing driver tallied his 100th BTCC podium in race two and then backed it up with a fourth place finish in the reverse grid finale.

Those results mean that the Ford Focus ST driver leaves Brands Hatch holding a five-point advantage ahead of Tom Ingram, while reigning champion Jake Hill – who was a winner in race one – sits in third, a further seven points in arrears.

EXCLER8 Motorsport/Hyundai continue to lead the Manufacturers/Constructors Championship however BMW are now their closest challengers following a day to remember for West Surrey Racing.

In the Teams Championship, Team Vertu have extended their advantage over NAPA Racing UK to 23 points.

Elsewhere, Chris Smiley and Restart Racing hold narrow leads in both the Independent Drivers and Teams Championship’s respectively. Off the back of his maiden overall victory, Daryl Deleon is the driver to beat in the Jack Sears Trophy.

The next BTCC race takes place at Snetterton on May 24-25.
