Mike Halder wins final two races at Jyllandsringen

Mike Halder won the final two TCR Denmark races at Jyllandsringen while disaster struck Jan Magnussen.

The second race had Magnus Dall starting from the reversed grid pole position, but a gearbox issue forced the Honda driver out of the final two races, leaving the first grid spot empty.

It was instead his brother Mathias Dall who started from pole ahead of René Povlsen.

Mathias Dall got a slow start as the lights went out and was beaten into Turn 1 by Povlsen.

But the lead was short-lived for Povlsen as TPR Motorsport driver Halder passed him before the end of the first lap.

Ebdrup made a strong start as well from eighth on the grid and was up into third place before the end of the first lap.

Former F1 driver Magnussen was on the move also, passing Mathias Dall for fourth on the first lap.

But Magnussen’s race soon ended following contact with reigning champion Kasper Jensen at Turn 9, with Magnussen’s Civic firmly buried in the gravel and out of the race.

Ebdrup had made his way to second place in the first half of the race and started to gain on Halder. But his efforts faded towards the end of the race, with Halder crossing the finishing line two seconds ahead of his Honda rival.

Jensen came home in third place ahead of Povlsen and Mathias Dall.

The third and final race had Ebdrup starting from pole position ahead of Halder, Jensen, Povlsen and Magnussen.

But Ebdrup made a slow start, handing the lead to Halder while there was an incident further behind.

Magnussen seemed to move over under braking into Turn 1, resulting in contact with Povlsen and a spin into a second consecutive retirement for Magnussen.

The field remained more or less static throughout the race bar a fight between Lars Højris and Hyundai driver Marco Dahl. The two traded places several time until the fight ended in the gravel trap with a broken suspension for Dahl following contact between the two at Turn 8.

Højris was able to continue the race to finish sixth and last while Dahl limped onto the infield of the circuit with a broken rear suspension.

Halder claimed the win with a two-second margin over Ebdrup as Jensen clinched the final podium spot.

Povlsen finished fourth ahead of Mathias Dall.

Halder and Ebdrup shares the points lead on 172 points after Jyllandsringen while Jensen has dropped to third on 166 points.

The next TCR Denmark race takes place at Ring Djursland on June 21-22.
