James Warburton returns to role of Supercars CEO

Supercars has confirmed that James Warburton is to make a return to the role of Chief Executive Officer in place of Shane Howard.

Howard will move into a new role of Director – Motorsport with Racing Australia Consolidated Enterprises – the owner of Supercars – and will also take up a place on the board.

Warburton will come in to replace him from 23 July 2025 as he steps back into the position he previously held from 2013 through to 2017.

“Supercars holds a very special place in Australian sport, and I’m honoured to be returning to lead the business into its next phase,” he said.

“This is a Championship with passionate fans, incredible on-track action, and huge potential to grow. The business has evolved significantly in recent years and I’m excited to build on the strong foundation already in place.

“I want to thank the Board for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
Warburton has most recently worked as CEO of the Seven West Media company.
