Dan Cammish storms to second pole position of the season

Dan Cammish set a new qualifying lap record on his way to pole position for the first of tomorrow’s three British Touring Car Championship races at Snetterton.

In a captivating session that saw the benchmark continue to be lowered, the Alliance Racing driver punched in a best time of 1:53.750 to snare top spot by the smallest of margins – 0.030 seconds.

Despite only having a small amount of turbo boost deployment at his disposal, Tom Ingram emerged as Cammish’s closest challenger and the EXCELR8 driver was able to hustle his Hyundai i30 Fastback N into second on the grid.

While Cammish clinched his second pole position of the season, Dan Rowbottom enjoyed another strong qualifying display as he powered his Ford Focus ST into third while Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble enjoyed a superlative outing to net fourth.

Adam Morgan completed the top five and he will start ahead of championship leader Ash Sutton, who endured a less than ideal session.

Sutton’s front-wheel-drive machine came to a stop during Q2 however the four-time title winner was able to get the car moving again. In Q3 however the issue remerged and Sutton ground to a halt coming down the back straight.

Despite being unable to set a competitive time, the Alliance Racing driver will line up for the opening race of tomorrow in sixth.

Narrowly missing out on the top six, but lining up seventh and eighth, was Restart Racing’s Daniel Lloyd and One Motorsport’s Josh Cook.

Completing the top ten was Tom Chilton and the lead Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla GR Sport of James Dorlin.

After their dominance at Brands Hatch, West Surrey Racing endured a challenging session with Charles Rainford being the best-placed of the BMW quartet in 11th.

Reigning champion Jake Hill was one of the headline casualties as he failed to progress from Q1 and will subsequently start from 20th for race one.
