Michael Crees to remain a part of EXCELR8 team
EXCLER8 Motorsport have confirmed that Michael Crees will remain a part of the Hyundai squad, despite his own British Touring Car Championship campaign concluding earlier than planned.
Crees joined the team for the opening five rounds of the season, with Senna Proctor scheduled to take over driving duties from Croft onwards.
Having competed at Donington Park and Brands Hatch, Crees took the decision to step aside at Snetterton and allow Ryan Bensley to make his debut in the UK’s premier motorsport series.
However while this agreement suited Crees and the team commercially, it did present a fresh obstacle in the shape of the number of allocated driver changes that are permitted per car.
Not wanting to breach any regulations, EXCELR8 have subsequently brought forward Proctor’s return to the BTCC and the Yorkshireman will now compete at Thruxton and Oulton Park, in addition to the second half of the season.
Crees meanwhile will continue to work with the team off-track with the aim of returning to competition in 2026.
“This is a hugely unfortunate situation for both Michael and ourselves that stems from a misunderstanding around the plans for Snetterton and how it would impact on the allotted driver changes,” said Justina Williams, EXCELR8 Team Owner.
“As a result, we have brought forwards Senna’s introduction as the second change to this weekend.
“We would like to thank Michael for his efforts in the opening two rounds of the season, and look forward to welcoming him back at Thruxton to host our mutual commercial partners, and to support the team in its title challenge.”
