Tom Ingram charges to first win of the season in Thruxton opener

Tom Ingram became the ninth different winner from ten races in the 2025 British Touring Car Championship as he came out on top of a ding-dong battle with Ash Sutton to claim victory in race one at Thruxton.

Starting from second place, the EXCELR8 driver took the fight to pole sitter Sutton early on however the Alliance Racing driver would soon begin to drop back as the race wore on as he seemingly struggled with a mechanical issue.

Action kicked off almost immediately as Tom Chilton and Charles Rainford found themselves have separate incidents at Allard Corner before Sam Osborne and Max Hall collided with each other at Noble.

That incident resulted in a lengthy safety car period and on the restart it was Ingram that began to mount an assault on Sutton. At the Club Chicane the pair went door-to-door and the end result was both of them short-cutting the corner, with Ingram coming out on top.

Sutton would close back onto the rear bumper of Ingram however he was never able to make a move. As the laps ticked by, Sutton would soon develop a mechanical issue which dropped him further back.

First his team-mate Dan Cammish would take second before Josh Cook completed a sensational drive to complete the podium, coming from 14th on the grid after One Motorsport rebuilt his car overnight.

Sutton would hold on to clinch fourth while Dan Rowbottom and reigning champion Jake Hill scrapped for fifth and sixth respectively.

Rounding out the top ten was James Dorlin who clinched a season-best seventh, Adam Morgan, Senna Proctor and Daryl Deleon.

Others to endue misfortune included Mikey Doble who pulled off with a technical issue and Gordon Shedden, who was spun off the circuit at Noble.
