Ignacio Montenegro leads GOAT Racing 1-2-3 in second Valencia practice

GOAT Racing driver Ignacio Montenegro (Honda) was fastest in the second FIA TCR World Tour free practice session at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia.

The Argentinian driver set a best lap time of 1:40.608 in warm but windy conditions, leading team-mates Felipe Fernández and Marco Butti, both just two-tenths off the pace.

Yann Ehrlacher was the fastest of the Lynk & Cos in fourth position, followed by Hyundai’s Mikel Azcona, 0.483 seconds from the top time.

Independent Lynk & Co driver Viktor Andersson, who’s a guest driver from TCR Europe this weekend, was sixth fastest ahead of Santiago Urrutia of Cyan Racing, a tenth further behind.

Norbert Michelisz was second fastest of the Hyundai drivers in eighth, with fellow Hyundai driver Julien Briche in ninth. Ruben Volt of ALM Motorsport completed the top ten, nine-tenths behind Montenegro.

The session was red-flagged with three minutes to go as Esteban Guerrieri (Honda) went off at Turn 1, with the championship leader’s struggles continuing from FP1, where he was eleventh fastest, as he failed to set a lap time in this session.

The FIA TCR World Tour returns to the track on Saturday morning at 11:15 for the qualifying session.
