Adam Shepherd scores Croft pole
Adam Shepherd secured pole position for the latest rounds of the TCR UK Championship at Croft.
Shepherd was the man to beat for much of the session at the wheel of his Cupra Leon VZ but saved his best lap right for the end – going nearly three-tenths of a lap quicker than anyone else on his final tour.
A time of 1:22.050s was good enough to snare pole for race one, whilst his second fastest time was also quicker than anyone else could manage and earned him pole for race three as well.
Callum Newsham prevented a Cupra lock-out of the front row by going second quickest, with his final lap good enough to edge ahead of Steve Laidlaw by just 0.021s, with Laidlaw being joined on the second row of the grid by son Sam.
Brad Hutchison in his older Cupra was fifth, with Finn Leslie impressing in his Power Maxed Racing Hyundai to go sixth.
Will Beech, George Jaxon, Harry Bloor and Gregory Saunders then rounded out the top ten.
Series debutant Jordan Kerridge was eleventh ahead of Mark Smith, with Alex Jones – the sole Gen1 runner this weekend – rounding out the field.
