Mike Halder praises team after victory from third place
Mike Halder claimed the victory in the opening TCR Spain race at Valencia after starting from third on the grid, controlling the race from the first lap.
“The team did a great job and gave me a good car for the distance, also with the extra 40 kilos of compensation weight,” Halder told TouringCarTimes after the race.
“I was expecting it to be tough in this hot conditions, but I had a very good car.”
After taking the first position at the start, the Honda driver stayed in front and built up a comfortable gap to Jenson Brickley (Cupra) in second place.
“It was also a case of doing a good start and managing to stay in front, and managing the pace without pushing too much on the tyres,” added the German driver.
“In the end it was also tricky with the safety car, I don’t know why they needed it to come, but I had enough tyres to stay at the front.
“Tomorrow I start from P7 and I will try my best to get the best result. The pace is in the car, we can make some changes for tomorrow and we will see, how some fun on the track.”
