Norbert Michelisz: “I couldn’t do much more today”
BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse driver Norbert Michelisz was the fastest Hyundai driver in qualifying at Valencia, host of the second round of the 2025 FIA TCR World Tour.
“Yesterday we had some small things that compromised the two free practice sessions, so I could only do two laps to prepare for the weekend,” Michelisz explained to TouringCarTimes.
“So, starting the qualifying, we were not 100% sure how the car balance would be, but I felt confident from the first moment and the car balance felt good, of course there are always things you can improve, and I did a good qualifying.”
The Hyundai driver could only manage fifth place, three-tenths behind the pole position.
“If I’m honest, if I repeat qualifying ten times, I’m not sure I could go much faster than today. If course, I had small traffic, which cost me one-tenth, but it wouldn’t have changed the whole picture,” said Michelisz.
“In the end I’m experienced enough to know that the important thing is to do the job, to be there with the car, and get a good result it’s important to get the points, but at the end, I know that there isn’t much more.”
The FIA TCR World Tour runs a three-race weekend format at Valencia, with Michelisz clear about his strategy for Saturday afternoon.
“For Race 1 the target is scoring points. With this format, the important thing is to finish Race 1 in the points because, then, 50% of the weekend job is done. For the races tomorrow it’s a different story,” said Michelisz.
