Mike Halder: “We hope we can keep this speed”

TPR Motorsport driver Mike Halder won both TCR Spain races at Valencia and has emerged as the driver to beat as the season reaches its half point.

“The final race was tough, as Piirimagi pushed a lot behind me, he had a lot of pace, so I needed to push the whole race,” the German driver told TouringCarTimes.

Halder started from seventh on the grid for Race 2, but had already managed snatch the lead after the first few corners of the race.

“The first laps were quite good, I enjoyed fighting with other cars and overtook some of them in the first lap and then I managed the race,” said Halder.

“The tyres didn’t drop so much. In the end, two victories here in Valencia are very nice and I’m very happy for the team and also for some good points for the championship.

“But it’s still the middle of the season and we have to push the other four races through. I hope we can stay on the speed we have at the moment and improve a bit more, and make it again in Jerez and Barcelona.”

Honda driver Halder leads the championship after the races at Valencia on 213 points, 14 ahead of Gené and 59 over Piirimagi.

The next round of the 2025 TCR Spain takes place at Jerez on the 19-21st of September.
