Esteban Guerrieri heads close and hot second Monza practice

Honda driver Esteban Guerrieri beat Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai) and Aurélien Comte (Cupra) by 28 and 65 thousandths of a second respectively in the second free FIA TCR World Tour practice session at Monza where temperatures neared 35 degrees Celsius.

The GOAT Racing driver lapped the circuit in 1:55.371, a time that was slightly slower than Ignacio Montenegro’s 1:55.241 in the first free practice session.

Mikel Azcona (Hyundai) was fourth fastest, 0.146 from the top time, ahead of Cupra driver John Filippi in fifth.

Felipe Fernández was second fastest of the Honda drivers in sixth place ahead of the top Lynk & Co 03 TCR driver in the form of Thed Björk, lapping 0.650 seconds from the top time.

Montenegro was eighth fastest ahead of fellow Argentinian driver Néstor Girolami (Hyundai) while Jacopo Cimenes rounded off the top ten, 0.757 seconds from Guerrieri’s time.

Next up is qualifying, starting at 09:40 CEST on Saturday.
