Tom Ingram: “The car was outrageously good”
Tom Ingram lauded his EXCELR8 Motorsport Hyundai i30 N as outrageous after storming to pole position in British Touring Car Championship qualifying at Oulton Park.
After comfortably progressing through Q1 and Q2, the 2022 title winner produced a superlative lap to snare top spot by more than half second.
The cherry on top for the Hyundai driver came in the fact that he finished almost half a second clear of his nearest challenger and obliterated his own lap record by more than three tenths of a second.
“I’m pleased with that,” said Ingram. “Everything just hooked up; we tweaked things after FP1 and we found a lot of time from those changes. I’ve got to say the car was outrageously good and is in a magnificent window – it’s beyond a joy to drive.
“It was one of those laps where the stars aligned and everything hooked up at the right time. I did try to go again for a second time but I didn’t make it to the line before the chequered flag came out.
“Looking ahead to tomorrow we can’t rule anything out. We’ll see what comes our way, nobody has a clue what the weather is going to do so we’ll get our heads down and do the best job we can.”
