Jake Hill gutted to miss out on Race 3 podium

Jake Hill was left to ponder what might have been after missing out on a podium finish in the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park this past weekend.

The West Surrey Racing driver was in contention for victory during a damp reverse grid finale however while mounting an attack for the lead he slid wide down Cascades, opening the door for a host of others to power past him.

Hill managed to salvage seventh place and adding it to the two other top-ten finishes he clinched, the reigning champion was left with mixed feelings heading into the series’ summer break.

“It’s been a mixed bag today,” reflected Hill. “Overall, two sevenths and a fifth isn’t too bad from 13th place in qualifying, but it shows that our qualifying pace wasn’t representative of the speed we had over the weekend.

“I’m proud of the team and what we’ve achieved without my Race Engineer Craig being here. We’ve banded together with me, Craig doing what he can from his hospital bed and Dick [Bennetts, Team Principal] all playing a role.

“It’s gutting to be second and then dropping it in Race Three, but I have to push so hard just to be close to fighting for a win… It just is what it is.”
