TCR commits to 100% sustainable fuel for 2026
WSC president Marcello Lotti has confirmed that TCR will move to 100% sustainable fuel in 2026 in cooperation with ETS Racing Fuels, increasing from the current 50%.
“We have tested the 100% sustainable fuel and we can say that it works,” said Lotti to TouringCarTimes.
“We can start to use them from the next season. We made a test with Cupra, as they use a production engine, and we are ready to start to use it from 2026.
“It’s a particular fuel from the same company that is providing us the 50% sustainable fuel this season, there could be some logistic issues in some events, but we don’t think this is going to be a problem.”
The first introduction of 50% sustainable fuel in TCR cars took place during the 2024 FIA Motorsport Games, fuel which was made available for all TCR categories from 2025.
Lotti elaborated on the increase to 100% sustainable fuel for 2026.
“They are 100% sustainable because, from the moment they start production, they don’t cause any emissions because, even if they would have 20% when running, they’ve saved more than that at the production stage,” said Lotti.
“This is something that is our hands right now to make the championship more ecological.”
