Thed Björk shares video of high-speed “near-death experience”

Thed Björk came very close to crashing at high speed instead of winning the final FIA TCR World Tour race at Vila Real when lapping guest driver Michel Fernandes, describing it as a “near-death experience”.

“We came close to destroying three cars with a lapped driver,” said Björk to TouringCarTimes.

“This was one of the scariest moments in my entire racing career. A near-death experience!”

The Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver was leading the race ahead of team-mate Ma Qing Hua when he encountered the slow-moving Peugeot 308TCR of Fernandes with just three laps left.

“I was inches away from a high-speed collision as a car slowed down in the worst possible place while being lapped. I still can’t believe I made it out,” said Björk.

Björk’s team-mate Ma was close to striking the two cars as well, as visible in the rear view mirror of Björk in the video below. All three drivers escaped without damage.
