Dušan Borković: “I had to get used to everything again”

Dušan Borković rued problems and mistakes that marred his return weekend to the FIA TCR World Tour together with GOAT Racing on the streets of Vila Real.

“I didn’t drive for a long period of time, so I had to get used to the heat in the car and everything again,” Borković told TouringCarTimes.

“I think that sadly, in qualifying, I broke the driveshaft and after that, the splitter was broken, so I couldn’t manage to have a good lap time. But the speed was there for sure.”

Borković qualified 14th, retired from the first race and climbed to ninth in the second race.

“When you want to are out of the top ten in this championship all drivers are very close, so basically your weekend is finished,” said Borković.

“So I missed the chance to be on the podium, especially in the second race to come back, I didn’t have luck but I also made some mistakes. In Race 1 I was also pretty fast but I touched the wall and had a puncture.

“In Race 2 I didn’t have room for any mistake, so I drove very carefully. I was also happy because Girolami was behind me and he’s a top driver with a top car and I could manage the situation with speed.”

Borkovic will stay with GOAT Racing for the remainder of the season, albeit with a question mark for next round at The Bend in Australia.

“We have to see about Australia but the rest of the season is for sure,” Borković.

“But I’m very happy for my first race in a long time, so we’ll see the rest of the season.”
