Jake Hill withdraws from remainder of BTCC weekend at Croft
West Surrey Racing has confirmed that Jake Hill and his #1 BMW 330i M Sport have been withdrawn from the remainder of the British Touring Car Championship weekend at Croft.
The reigning champion completed Free Practice 1 at the North Yorkshire track but became unwell prior to Free Practice 2, which led to Colin Turkington driving the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport machine.
Turkington completed a number of mandatory laps in the second session before Hill took on driving duties once more in the latter stages.
Since the completion of practice, the Sunbury-based team has stated that Hill is suffering from a viral infection and has not been certified to race by the TOCA medical team.
“It’s such a shame that this has happened,” said Hill “I didn’t feel well this morning during practice so went to the medical centre and unfortunately have been told I can’t race.
“It’s gutting for the team at WSR and Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport, but our focus now will be on getting better.”
