Tom Ingram surges to Croft pole position

Tom Ingram capped off a wheel-perfect Saturday at Croft to claim his second pole position of the 2025 British Touring Car Championship season.

The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver reigned supreme in style around the Yorkshire circuit during qualifying as he obliterated the existing lap record, setting a best time of 1:20.522.

Ingram’s pole position performance followed a superlative display in each of the two practice sessions earlier in the day, where he was also fastest.

Taking the fight to Ingram for top spot was Alliance Racing’s Dan Cammish as he attempted to make home advantage count as best as possible to clinch the remaining spot on the front row, albeit two tenths of a second shy of the 2022 title winner.

Meanwhile Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble once again delivered another standout performance to clinch third place while Tom Chilton made it two Hyundais inside the top four after snaring a spot on row two on his final lap.

Dan Rowbottom and Daniel Lloyd also made it into the Quick Six shootout however they ultimately were classified in fifth and sixth respectively.

Behind them was Aron Taylor-Smith in his Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla and Senna Proctor, who had been touted as a contender for pole position after finishing second in both practice sessions.Rounding out the top ten was the West Surrey Racing duo of Charles Rainford and Daryl Deleon.

Championship leader Ash Sutton will undoubtedly be one to watch on race day as he looks to fight his way forward from 11th after having a number of laps rescinded due to exceeding track limits.

Further down the order, Adam Morgan will line up alongside Sutton whilst another driver that surprisingly failed to progress out of Q1 was three-time champion Gordon Shedden. He will start from 17th for the first of tomorrow’s three races.

As confirmed prior to the session, reigning champion Jake Hill will play no further part in the weekend after he and his #1 West Surrey Racing BMW 330i M Sport were withdrawn from the meeting after being deemed unfit to compete.
