Tom Ingram: “The car feels superb”

Tom Ingram was left lauding the performance of his Hyundai i30 N following British Touring Car Championship qualifying at Croft, where he claimed a second pole position of the season.

The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver was the cream of the crop around the North Yorkshire circuit throughout Saturday as he topped the times in both practice sessions before going on to reign supreme in qualifying.

Comfortably progressing into the Quick Six Shootout, the 2022 title winner shattered the existing qualifying lap record by more than half a second to snare top spot.

Following the session, Ingram hailed his front-wheel-drive machine as feeling ‘superb’ however he was quick to state that race day was where it would really count in the battle for championship supremacy.

“I’m really pleased with that,” he said. “When you end up with a Goodyear Wingfoot Award you know you’ve had a good Saturday but, we know the big points are awarded tomorrow and that’s what counts.

“The car feels superb as it always does though. We’ve refined things over the mid-season break and we’re in a good place. We’ve worked hard on making sure we can be as fast as possible on a Saturday, to give us the best possible chance of a good result on Sunday.”
