Eight points split Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton in BTCC standings

Just eight points is the difference between Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton at the top of the British Touring Car Championship standings following a frenetic weekend of racing at Croft Circuit.

Returning to action following the series’ summer break, the top two in the standings resumed their battle for supremacy – although it is Ingram that now leads the way.

Sutton arrived at the North Yorkshire venue with a ten-point advantage however a non-finish in race one – compounded by the Ingram winning said contest – saw the tables turn dramatically.

The four-time champion was able to recover some points as he charged from the back of the grid in race two before then closing the deficit further as he triumphed in race three, with Ingram finishing hot on his heels in second place.

While eight points separate Ingram from Sutton in the Drivers’ Championship, race two winner Dan Rowbottom now sits a further 70 points back from his Alliance Racing team-mate in third.

In the Manufacturers/Constructors Championship, Alliance/Ford lead EXCELR8 Motorsport/Hyundai by eight points, with the gap between the two outfits even closer in the Teams’ Championship.

Mikey Doble has ascended to the summit of the Independent Drivers’ Championship however Restart Racing remain in control of the Independent Teams’ Championship. Elsewhere, West Surrey Racing’s Daryl Deleon remains out front in the Jack Sears Trophy.
