Senna Proctor delighted with double podium on home turf

Senna Proctor was left over the moon after making a welcome return to the British Touring Car Championship podium at his home circuit of Croft this past weekend.

The EXCELR8 Motorsport driver kicked off the second half of his season in superlative style as he tallied a brace of third place finishes at the North Yorkshire venue.

After qualifying in eighth place, the Hyundai driver was a man on a mission on race day as he charged up to third place within two laps of race one. He would then comfortably stay there until the finish.

Come race two however the Yorkshireman endured a change in fortunes as his diminishing performance on the hard tyre saw him tumble down the order and finish outside of the points.

Faced with starting from towards the back of the grid for race three, albeit on the soft tyre, Proctor produced one of the drives of the day as he charged up to third place once again, pulling off a staggering 12 overtakes on the opening lap alone.

“It’s been a really good weekend,” said Proctor. “To battle up to third in race one was mega but then we struggled a lot on the hard tyre. That left me a little down in the dumps but I knew that we had the car underneath us.

“When we bolted that soft tyre back on for race three the car came alive. I managed to avoid all of the incidents and then it was about seeing if we could catch Ash [Sutton] with Tom [Ingram]. To go from the back of the grid onto the podium was great!

“Overall it’s been a great day for the whole team; the car has been on form and we’ve delivered some big results. We now just need to build on this and maintain the form heading to Knockhill in a couple of weeks’ time.”
