Fire destroys Power Maxed Racing headquarters
British Touring Car Championship team Power Maxed Racing has confirmed that a fire has destroyed its headquarters in Worcestershire, with owner Adam Weaver revealing that ‘everything has gone’.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire in the area at around 11:50 BST on Saturday. Ten fire crews were sent to the scene while further engines from Gloucestershire and Warwickshire were also on hand to assist.
While the cause of the blaze is yet to be determined, no injuries have thankfully been reported.
“Yes, sadly it’s true,” said Weaver on social media. “Today at 1pm I got a call to say that there was a big fire near our work premises. I headed over, as I approached, it was easy to see that we were the fire!
“I then had to stand there and watch as 20 years of blood, sweat and tears burnt to the ground in about 20 minutes. Absolutely everything has gone, the manufacturing warehouse, stock warehouse and possibly the saddest of all, the race team. There is nothing at all left. Not a thing.
“Yes I am gutted beyond belief for myself and my family but possibly more so for all the people who have been a part of this journey and care as much as I do. However for them, I won’t let this beat me. I will kick, fight, punch and damn near kill myself (again) to come back from this.
“I know I’ll be able to do this and succeed because I have lots of incredible human beings that will stand behind me and beside me to make sure that happens. We have a lot to do and no time to do it, but you’ll lose your money if you bet against us.”
This season has seen Mikey Doble and Nick Halstead drive for the Vauxhall Astra squad, with Doble claiming a maiden win at Snetterton. He also occupies top spot in the Independent Drivers’ Championship currently.
Power Maxed Racing – who also compete in the TCR UK Championship – has stated that it ‘will do everything in our power to do some kind of A-Team type miracle to see you at Knockhill’ – which is next round of the BTCC on August 16-17.
