Jake Hill doubles up at Knockhill

Jake Hill made it two wins from three races at Knockhill as he reigned supreme in a frenetic British Touring Car Championship finale.

The West Surrey Racing driver was wheel-perfect as he capped off a memorable weekend in Scotland by clinching his seventh career win at the Fife-based venue.

Hill started the race from the second on the grid and wasted no time in dispatching his team-mate Daryl DeLeon on lap three. Once out front, the BMW driver didn’t look back as he romped to a commanding victory.

While Hill swanned off into the distance, an almighty battle raged behind him for the remaining podium positions.

DeLeon and Senna Proctor – both on the medium tyre – occupied second and third in the early exchanges however neither could do anything to stop the Alliance Racing Ford Focus of Dan Cammish from cruising past both of them.

Further down the order all eyes were on title contenders Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram as they went wheel-to-wheel during the first half of the bout. The early going saw Ingram on the front foot however a resolute defence from Sutton ensured that the four-time champion remained ahead.

As the race wore on, Sutton soon began to move forward as he made his way up to third after passing Proctor and DeLeon. Ingram would follow however he would ultimately not be able to mount another charge on the Ford Focus driver.

Free of pressure, Sutton spent the remaining laps closing down team-mate Cammish and for a second successive race, the two drivers swapped positions on the run to the chequered flag.

While Hill, Sutton, Cammish and Ingram occupied the top four positions, Tom Chilton and Dan Rowbottom kept fans on the edge of their seats as they enjoyed an action-packed tussle for fifth and sixth.

Completing the top ten behind them was Adam Morgan, Charles Rainford, Aiden Moffat and three-time title winner Gordon Shedden.
