Jake Hill delighted to bounce back in style at Knockhill
Jake Hill was left delighted after he made a triumphant return to the British Touring Car Championship this past weekend, winning two races at Knockhill.
The West Surrey Racing driver was forced to sit out the previous round at Croft on medical grounds but showcased his determination in Scotland with a champion’s drive around the undulating Fife venue.
Hill guided his BMW 330i M Sport from third to first in the opening encounter and then on the less preferable medium tyre in race two, he banked a solid haul of points in fifth place .
Starting on the front row of the grid for the reverse grid finale, the reigning champion produced a peerless performance as he passed team-mate Daryl DeLeon for the lead on lap two and then cruised to a comfortable third win of the season.
“What a way to come back after missing Croft,” said Hill. “To be heading home with two wins – around a circuit that I absolutely love – is just incredible so thank you to everyone at West Surrey Racing.
“You question whether you can do it after what happened over the past two weeks, but we smoked them, didn’t we? I was a bit disappointed to not get pole but we turned up in the races and delivered properly.
“Pre-Croft the car was slow but it looked much better last time out, although I didn’t get to sample it. Everyone at WSR and BMW has done a mega job; it’s been a battle but we are back where we belong and hopefully we can keep this going heading to Donington Park.”
