Kasper Jensen wins all three races at Jyllandsringen
Reigning TCR Denmark champion Kasper Jensen made it three out of three victories at Jyllandsringen while his competitors hit trouble.
There were just eight cars entered for this race weekend as Jan Magnussen raced in the UK as part of an agreement predating his 2025 TCR Denmark commitment.
Mascot Motorsport driver Malte Ebdrup claimed pole position for the first race by just 15 thousands of a second over title contender Mike Halder.
But disaster struck the German driver on the warm up lap for the first race as he headed back into the pits due to a technical issue and retired before the race had begun.
Jensen claimed a lead he kept from lights to flag in the first race and won the race close to five seconds over team-mate Ebdrup who suffered from an engine issue, an issue which forced the team to change engine ahead of Race 2.
Mathias Dall managed to overtake René Povlsen to claim the final podium position.
The second race saw Magnus Dall starting from the reversed grid pole position but dropped down to fourth place before the end of the first lap.
Instead it was Jensen who made a rocket start from sixth place on the grid to snatch the lead at Turn 3, with team-mate Ebdrup sneaking past in the process and Halder a couple of corners later.
Halder then caught Ebdrup in the fight for second place with eight minutes left of the race. The German driver then managed to get past a couple of laps later.
The red flags were brought out with five minutes left as Lars Højris crashed in spectacular fashion and rolled his Honda. The Danish driver escaped unharmed while the damage to his car meant that he was out for the remainder of the race weekend.
The third and final race had Jensen starting from pole ahead of Ebdrup, while Halder started down in fifth place.
Jensen made a clean start while Ebdrup was slow off the blocks and dropped down to fourth briefly behind Povlsen and Halder.
But Ebdrup attacked Halder into Turn 2, resulting in contact between the two and Povlsen.
Ebdrup snatched second place ahead of Halder while Povlsen dropped down to seventh and last place.
Just as in the previous race, Halder gained on Ebdrup towards the end of the race and managed to claim second place on the final lap.
Jensen won the race with a margin of close to five seconds ahead of Halder and Ebdrup while Mathias Dall and Magnus Dall rounded off the top five.
The triple win has elevated Jensen into the championship lead on 421 points with team-mate Ebdrup three further behind and Halder third on 395 points.
The next TCR Denmark race weekend is the season finale at Padborg Park on September 12-13.
