Ebdrup claims provisional title after controversial clash with team-mate Jensen
Malte Ebdrup has claimed the 2025 TCR Denmark title provisionally following a controversial incident with Mascot Motorsport team-mate and outgoing champion Kasper Jensen in the penultimate race of the Padborg Park season finale.
Ebdrup started the day strongly by getting past pole-sitter Jensen before Turn 1 at the start of the first race which he controlled from then on to win by more than three seconds.
Former F1 driver Jan Magnussen finished a distant third, eight seconds behind the leading duo.
The second race saw Jensen making a sensational start from fifth on the grid to snatch the lead into Turn 1.
Magnussen was hit by Hyundai driver Marco Dahl in the Turn 1 chaos but managed to recover ground to finish second, albeit close to 16 seconds from the winning driver.
And Ebdrup soon worked his way up right on the rear bumper of team-mate Jensen in the fight for the lead and the title.
With six laps remaining, Ebdrup made a late move into Turn 9 which resulted in contact between the two Honda drivers.
Jensen went off into the gravel and retired from the race while Ebdrup was able to continue in the lead.
Jensen was visibly upset after the incident and stood in the gravel trap, sarcastically applauding his team-mate the next lap he passed.
There is so far no decision from the stewards on the incident and if this result stands, Ebdrup is champion no matter the result of the third and final race later tonight.
The duo headed into the weekend equal on points, but Ebdrup claimed the lead after his Race 1 win and further extended it in Race 2 to 36 points with 32 still available.
Mathias Dall rounded off the podium in the second race, 21 seconds behind Ebdrup.
