Adam Morgan sets the pace in second practice at Silverstone
Adam Morgan finished British Touring Car Championship practice at Silverstone as the driver to beat after producing a sublime lap in the day’s second session to top the times.
Following on from Daryl DeLeon’s blistering pace in opening practice, the EXCLER8 Motorsport driver lowered the benchmark even further as he set a best lap of 56.596 around the National layout.
Such was the speed that was displayed, the top 16 drivers all went faster than the existing qualifying lap record.
DeLeon had looked on course to do the double until Morgan pipped him however the rear-wheel-drive racer had enough in hand to finish second, less than a tenth of a second behind Morgan.
Tom Chilton and Daniel Lloyd made it tgree Hyundai’s inside the top four while reigning champion Jake Hill completed the top five.
The West Surrey Racing BMW 330i M Sport proved to be a potent force around Silverstone with both Aiden Moffat and Charles Rainford finishing in sixth and seventh respectively.
Filling the remaining positions inside the top ten was the Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla GR Sport trio of Gordon Shedden, Josh Cook and Aron Taylor-Smith.
Further down the order, championship protagonists Tom Ingram and Ash Sutton failed to break into the top ten, and were instead 12th and 17th.
Qualifying at Silverstone is scheduled to get underway at 15:30.
